My Brain Vs. What My Mom Wants My Brain to Be

I really loved making brain diagrams in middle school, especially the brains of people I hated.  This was mine.  Note the sections of my brain entitled "weather", "daphne my dog" and "various anxieties", which accurately took up most of the diagram.

  2. I also read all of your blog entries, a few of them to my mom. We laughed till we cried. Reading about your experiences reminds of so many of my own. And if I'm honest, completely normalizes my middle school years (thankfully) and makes my 14-year-old self feel less alone. Thank you so much for sharing intimate pieces of this part of your life in a way that is charming, hilarious, and heartbreaking.

    1. This makes me so happy! I know by the gist of the blog you'd assume my mother and I had an awful relationship- we were actually quite close, we just fought all the time. We love each other very much, so I'm glad another mom & daughter could read this and enjoy it. Yes, middle school years are terrible and that's basically the standard for everyone!

  3. WHY ARE THERE NO MORE ENTRIES?????? Please don't let the answer be, "And those were the last journal entries I ever made..."

    1. Oh, no worries! There will be MANY more entries (more from the 6-8th grade period, plus entries from HIGH SCHOOL coming soon!) I wrote hundreds of pages as a kid so i think there's enough to last a while. No worries!!!
